FAQs

Services

  • We specialize in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and complex anxiety disorders, offering care that is both evidence-based and deeply human. Our work is grounded in gold-standard approaches, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and is thoughtfully tailored to support meaningful, lasting change.

With over 10 years of clinical experience treating OCD and anxiety, our clinical director Carly Samach MS, LMHC also brings extensive experience training and mentoring providers in evidence-based practices. This depth of expertise informs every level of care within the practice, ensuring treatment is both clinically rigorous and compassionately delivered.

We are a neurodiversity-affirming practice and intentionally tailor treatment to each individual’s cognitive style, learning profile, and nervous system. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, we adapt evidence-based interventions to fit how each person thinks, processes, and engages — honoring differences while maintaining the integrity of effective treatment.

  • We primarily offer virtual therapy sessions, allowing us to provide flexible, accessible care while maintaining consistency and continuity in treatment. Some clinicians within our practice also offer hybrid options, including in-person sessions for clients in the Capital Region. Clinicians who provide in-person care note this availability in their individual profiles.

If you prefer or require in-person therapy, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We’re happy to discuss current availability and help explore options that best fit your needs.

  • Upstate Center is expanding, and we’re seeking dedicated therapists who are passionate about empowering clients to overcome fear and live fully.

We’re a close-knit, values-driven practice specializing in OCD, anxiety disorders, and phobias, using evidence-based approaches like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Our team is warm, collaborative, and committed to delivering therapy that creates real change. If you’re tired of working in isolation or eager to hone your expertise in anxiety treatment, we’d love to connect.

Booking & Appointments

  • Your first appointment is an intake session where we assess fit, get to know you, and start shaping your treatment goals together.

  • We require cancellations at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a fee, giving us time to adjust schedules and support other clients.

Insurance & Payment

  • At this time, Upstate Center for OCD & Anxiety operates as an out-of-network (OON) provider. While we plan to offer additional insurance support in the future and are happy to share updates as this develops, we currently support clients by helping them navigate available out-of-network options.

    These options may include:

    Superbills
A detailed receipt of services is provided at the end of each month, which you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

    Single Case Agreements
In some cases, we can work with insurance companies to pursue a single case agreement, allowing coverage for a specific number of sessions. To explore this option, we ask that prospective clients first contact their insurance provider to confirm whether single case agreements are offered under their plan.

  • We require a credit card or payment at the time of service to comply with insurance contracts. While we also accept Zelle or Paypal, we prefer credit cards for convenience and efficiency.

Confidentiality & Privacy

  • We strictly follow HIPAA policies, using secure software and procedures to protect patient safety. Recognizing this as a genuine concern, we proactively update our data protection practices to keep your information safe.

  • Therapy with us is confidential, as mandated by HIPAA, our ethical standards, and our licenses. We’re committed to ensuring patients feel safe and secure in sharing their experiences.

  • Our online appointments are secure, utilizing HIPAA-compliant software and following our data protection best practices to safeguard your privacy.

Logistics & Accessibility

  • You can call or email us during business hours, and we’ll respond to most intake inquiries the same day. Specific appointments are scheduled directly with our clinicians, who set their own availability.

  • We provide virtual therapy services to clients anywhere in New York State. For those seeking in-person sessions, we offer select appointments at our location in Glens Falls NY. Please reach out to inquire about in-person availability.
